My journey from doubt to delight
The atmosphere was enchanting with palm-roofed tents overlooking a serene river, creating an idyllic setting for relaxation. The staff's warmth was genuine, making every moment even more special! !
The facilities felt dated and the dining prices were quite steep, which may leave budget-conscious travelers feeling wary.

i recently stayed at athgira river camping for a family holiday, and it exceeded my expectations! the safari-style tents were beautifully designed, and the staff went above and beyond to make our stay special. we especially loved dining by the river under twinkling lights, making it an unforgettable experience.
wifi didn’t work in the tents.

not to be dramatic, but my experience was a complete disaster. the tiny fan in my deluxe tent did absolutely nothing to cool the sweltering heat, and let's not even get started on the filthy bathroom. i can't believe an upgrade wasn't offered, as i clearly deserved it. i almost thought of writing a good review, but no way!

The large camp was lovely, and we enjoyed some nice ecotours around. After a day out, we went to relax by the river while our small dog played. The staff even set up tea and coffee for our early safari, which was a thoughtful touch.
In my wife’s opinion, more activities for kids would be great.

The Deluxe tent was super comfy with a cozy bed and nice linens. Loved the outdoor bathroom vibe! The view of the pool and river from our veranda was a major plus. Only downside? No hot water in the showers, which was a letdown after a long day out.

Just a perfect match for a quick trip in Udawalawe with best value for money ratio. The breakfast was decent, with a small but sufficient selection of fruit. Bring your own snacks for the daytime since there aren't many options close by.
